Tournament Structure — The Super League
After completing all 15 league-stage matches across four days (April 6-9), the BCA Kalahari Women’s T20I Tournament 2026 has divided into two parallel competitions:
Super League — Top 3 teams from the league stage: Brazil Women, Botswana Women, Mozambique Women Plate — Bottom 3 teams: Malawi Women, Lesotho Women, Zambia Women
The Super League determines the April 11 Final participants. Super League teams play each other in a mini-league or knockout format, with the two best records advancing to the final.
The Plate runs simultaneously for the bottom 3 teams — providing competitive cricket and ICC ranking points for nations still developing their programs, even after elimination from the main title race.

League Stage Final Standings
SUPER LEAGUE Qualifiers:
| Team | P | W | L | Pts | NRR |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Brazil Women | 5 | 5 | 0 | 10 | +8.96 (approx — dominating) |
| Botswana Women | 5 | 3 | 2 | 6 | +3.2 |
| Mozambique Women | 4+ | 2 | 2 | 4 | +0.4 |
PLATE Competitors:
- Malawi Women: 1W (beat LES M2)
- Lesotho Women: 1W (beat ZAM M7!)
- Zambia Women: 0W
Brazil’s extraordinary record: 5 wins from 5 matches in the league stage, with run margins of 83, 136, 9 wkts (75 balls remaining!), 174, and 180 runs. Their NRR must be the highest of any team in any associate women’s cricket tournament in 2026. Against LES in M14, Lesotho were bowled out for just 13 runs — one of the lowest Women’s T20I totals ever recorded.
Botswana’s mixed campaign: 3W, 2L — their wins came against the three weaker sides (LES by 161, MAL by 23, ZAM by 158). Their two losses to BRA (by 83 runs in M1) and MOZ (by 23 runs in M6 — the shock of the tournament) show genuine inconsistency against competitive opponents.
Mozambique’s rise: Beating Botswana by 23 runs (M6) was the league stage’s biggest upset. Their subsequent win over Lesotho (M11) confirmed they are the tournament’s most tactically disciplined side outside of Brazil.
The M6 Shock — Mozambique Beat Botswana: What It Means for Today
The result that reshaped this tournament: Mozambique beat Botswana by 23 runs in M6 (MOZ 106/7, BOT 83 in 17.2 ov).
On home soil, in front of their crowd, Botswana were dismissed for 83 chasing just 107. This result — combined with their M1 collapse against Brazil (64/9) — reveals a structural weakness in Botswana’s batting that remains unresolved.
When Botswana face disciplined, consistent bowling that doesn’t offer easy width or length adjustments — as Brazil’s attack has shown throughout this tournament — they collapse.
Their 190/6 (vs LES M3) and 191/6 (vs ZAM M12) are evidence of what they can do against poor opposition. But against tournament-quality bowling, 83 (vs MOZ) and 64 (vs BRA M1) are the contrasting evidence.
Brazil Women — The Unbeatable Force
5 wins from 5 with the following margins:
- vs BOT (M1): +83 runs
- vs MAL (M5): +136 runs (MAL bowled out 31 in 12.1 ov)
- vs MOZ (M8): +9 wkts, 75 balls remaining (completed in 7.3 overs!)
- vs ZAM (M10): +174 runs (ZAM 26 in 15.1 ov)
- vs LES (M14): +180 runs (LES bowled out for 13!)
LES 13 all out (M14) requires specific examination. The fall of wickets from Crictracker’s confirmed scorecard:
- 2-1 (Kananelo Molapo, 1.4 ov)
- 2-2 (Kananelo Mabitle, 1.5 ov)
- 2-3 (Makopano Mabathoana, 1.6 ov)
- 8-4, 8-5, 8-6, 8-7 (four more quick dismissals)
- 12-8, 13-9, 13-10
Lesotho were reduced to 2/3 in the 2nd over — three wickets in three balls from Brazil’s pace. By the end of over 3, they were 8/7. They were bowled out for 13 in 6.2 overs. This is not merely dominant bowling — it is surgical precision.
Brazil’s opening bowlers created extraordinary early movement and found a surface at Oval 2 that provided steep carry.
The 5th, 6th, and 7th wickets all fell at exactly 8 runs — suggesting consecutive dismissals where Lesotho’s batters were bewildered and unable to get off the mark.
Brazil’s squad (confirmed): Carolina Nascimento (c), Laura Cardoso (vc), Mayara Santos (wk), Monnike Rufino, Roberta Moretti, Maria Eduarda MC Ribeiro, Maria Luiza Garcia, Lindsay Vilas Boas, Nicole Monteiro, Laura Agatha, Evelyn Muller, Ana Clara Sabino, Lara Bittencourt, Marianne Artur, Laura De Silva, Camille Vitoria, Giulia Ribeiro, Roberta Avery
Brazil’s bowling hierarchy (based on league stage performances):
- Opening pace bowlers: Created the 5-wicket burst that dismissed LES for 13 in M14. Takes 3-4 wkts in powerplay consistently
- Middle-over spinners: Economy-focused, prevents acceleration after the opener-assault
- Death bowlers: Irrelevant in most matches (opponents are already bowled out by over 15)
Brazil’s batting hierarchy:
- Openers scored 81/1 in 7.3 overs chasing 81 (M8 vs MOZ) — the run rate of 10.8/over reflects calculated aggression
- 167/4 in 20 overs vs MAL shows they can post big totals when batting first too
- 200/5 in 20 overs vs ZAM — 10 runs/over when they want to impose
Botswana Women — Redemption Match
Botswana are playing on their home ground, in front of their home crowd, at Oval 1 — the ground they know best.
The BCA has been building cricket infrastructure in Gaborone for years; this is where Botswana Women train most regularly.
Full squad: Aliya Motorwala, Goabilwe Matome, Oratile Kgeresi, Pako Mapotsane, Tlhalefo B Godisamanga, Amantle Mokgotlhe, Merapelo Phiase, Onneile Keitsemang, Tuelo Shadrack, Wendy Moutswi, Laura Mophakedi, Goitseone Setshwane, Kesego Inakale, Maatla Sefati
What Botswana need today: Their batting must learn from M1 (64/9 vs Brazil in the same tournament). The difference between 64/9 and 191/6 (vs ZAM) is the quality of opposition bowling. Brazil’s pace attack will replicate the pressure of M1. Botswana’s captain must emphasise: get through the first 6 overs without losing more than 2 wickets. If they reach over 6 with 8 wickets intact, their free-scoring middle (which can post 190+) has the platform to build.
Botswana’s bowling plan against Brazil: Brazil scored 147/2 in M1 — that was their lowest score in the tournament. Brazil are beatable if Botswana can restrict them to under 100. Their best realistic plan: set 120+, then use their pace/spin combination to create early wickets in a morning Oval 1 session where early dew can assist swing.
Venue — BCA Oval 1, Gaborone (Super League Edition)
By April 10, this ground has hosted 7-8 matches. The pitch will show:
- Significant footmarks outside off-stump from repeated bowling
- Worn crease areas creating unpredictable bounce zones
- Morning dew (9:15 AM local start) providing genuine seam movement in overs 1-4
- The ground speeds up as the match progresses — boundary hitting becomes progressively easier
The morning start (9:15 AM local) is the most critical factor. Both teams will encounter a more helpful bowling surface in the first 8 overs than any of the league-stage afternoon matches provided. This slightly advantages the team that bats second — giving them the flatter afternoon surface to chase.
Head-to-Head in This Tournament
M1 (April 6): Brazil won by 83 runs — BOT 64/9, BRA 147/2 This is the only previous meeting. Brazil dominated comprehensively. Botswana’s batters found no answer to Brazil’s opening pace burst.
The Super League context: This is a new competition within the tournament. Both teams reset. Botswana have 3 additional matches of data about Brazil’s patterns. Brazil know Botswana’s weakness (opening powerplay collapse). The intelligence war is even.
Today Match Prediction: Botswana Women vs Brazil Women
- Predicted Winner: Brazil Women (70%)
Brazil are the tournament’s best team by every measurable metric. Five wins from five with an aggregate NRR that no other team in the tournament can approach. Their bowling dismissed LES for 13 in their most recent match — peak form heading into the Super League.
Botswana’s 30% chance requires: Morning dew giving their pace bowlers extra swing + Brazil’s squad management (possible rotation after 5 consecutive matches) + Botswana’s batting learning from M1’s collapse.
If Botswana post 120+ and bowl Brazil out for under 100, it’s 50-50 from there. The first 4 overs of both innings define this match completely.
Dream11 Fantasy Tips — BOT-W vs BRA-W Super League M1
Captain: Carolina Nascimento (BRA) — Brazil’s captain, most experienced player, senior batting position + bowling captain overs. In every Super League match, she sets the tone with bat or ball. Vice-Captain: Brazil’s leading wicket-taking bowler from M14 vs LES (whoever took the first-over hat-trick sequence that reduced LES to 2/3 in over 2). Their ceiling for 3-4 wickets against Botswana is real. Differential: Aliya Motorwala (BOT) — Botswana’s most consistent batter through the tournament. At a lower price than Brazil’s headline names, if she scores 30+ in a home Super League match, her points will surprise. Most users load Brazil heavily (7-8 players) — Motorwala as the BOT differential at 2-3 picks is the smart play.
Suggested XI: 7 BRA, 4 BOT. Load Brazil’s opening pace duo (both wicket-takers vs LES), their top 3 batters, + Carolina Nascimento. From BOT: their top 2 batters + their most consistent bowler.
